When a new Head teacher was appointed at the local school, she sought David’s advice to help develop her leadership skills. This occurred during a period when the school’s staffing was being restructured and there was significant pressure to improve educational standards achieved by pupils.
Using his skills and experiences, David listened to the concerns and ideas of the Head before designing a programme of meetings with the objective of agreeing an initial action plan. He then held regular meetings to monitor and evaluate the plan in terms of its effectiveness in developing the leadership skills required to carry the school through this period of change.
A recent OFSTED report highlighted that the Head, well supported by the governors, demonstrated strong and effective leadership resulting in an environment where children are achieving more, make faster progress and attendance has improved.
CREATE Leaders Case Study 2
An organisation was going through a period of significant change that required strong leadership to steer the business through this difficult time whilst retaining the focus on ensuring the business objectives were met.
Louise mentored the leaders of the organisation, helping them adopt the characteristics needed to navigate this difficult time while maintaining their energies for the challenges ahead. This was a difficult time for the organisation and the leaders but, by recognising their own strengths and weaknesses, and adapting to the situation as part of the change process, both the individuals and team came out stronger and more focussed.
By helping the leaders maintain their focus on the requirements to manage the change, the organisation came through this significant period with a committed workforce who supported the leaders in their plans and hence increased the effectiveness of the organisation resulting in a more profitable and efficient business.
